Man dead in Killeen’s 17th murder of 2024

KILLEEN, Texas ( FOX 44 ) – One man is dead in what Killeen Police are calling the city’s 17th murder of 2024.

Officers responded to a call of shots fired in the 2200 block of Wheeler Avenue at approximately 12:39 a.m. Sunday. When officers arrived, they found a 22-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds in the roadway. Officers started to perform life-saving measures until paramedics arrived. However, the victim succumbed to his injuries.

The victim was pronounced dead by Justice of the Peace Nicola James at 12:48 a.m. She ordered an autopsy to be performed at the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas.

The name of the victim has been withheld pending notification of next of kin. There is no threat to the community related to this incident.
