SAN ANGELO, Texas ( Concho Valley Homepage ) —The San Angelo Salvation Army has asked for the public to join in the re-opening of its shelter with a ribbon-cutting ceremony after being closed for over six years.

According to a social media post shared by Salvation Army San Angelo, the ceremony, located at 122 W 2nd St, will take place at noon on Sept. 27. The shelter will provide support to families in need operating as an overnight facility, requiring guests to provide a photo ID upon entry.

“We’ve already received calls from families looking for permanent housing solutions, this shelter is going to have a wonderful impact,” said Major Adriana Martinez, commanding officer of the Salvation Army in San Angelo.

“We also encourage donations of hygiene items, local contributions allow us to keep our doors open and serve the less fortunate,” Martinez added.

Martinez noted that volunteers who can assist with meal preparation, service and cleanup are welcome, provided they pass a background check.
