Historical church in Brenham vandalized

BRENHAM, Texas ( FOX 44 ) – A Brenham church with over 140 years of history has been vandalized.

The First Christian Church of Brenham, located at 306 Cottonwood St., was vandalized between late Monday and early Tuesday. According to the church, over 15 antique stained-glass windows were shattered by rocks and bricks in an act of destruction.

The Brenham Police Department is currently investigating the incident and encourages anyone with information about the crime to contact them immediately at 979-337-7337.

The church says Pastor Charles “Chuck” Topping and its members are heartbroken by the damages, but they remain steadfast in their mission to share the love of Christ with the community. The congregation had just completed restoration and repairs to the antique stained-glass windows.
