LUBBOCK, Texas — University Medical Center said ransomware was the cause of the technology issues the facility faced on Thursday. The hospital said it diverted both emergency and non-emergency patients to other local hospitals due to the issues.

The hospital said it would continue to divert incoming emergency and non-emergency patients to local health facilities until the issue is resolved.

UMC healthcare facilities remained open including Emergency Centers and Urgent Care Clinics. UMC Physician Clinics remained open as regularly scheduled.

Downtown procedures were implemented to provide accommodations, minimizing any disruption to UMC patients.

As more information becomes available, UMC said it will provide updates. The center acknowledged there are additional questions regarding the issue.
