College Station, TX ( FOX 44 ) — At 21 years old and in college, Zach Miller always dreamed of starting up his own company.

From a young age he’s always been curious on how the business side works and how to make it better.

“It’s kind of a father son business that we’re doing. And it’s always been a dream to work for my dad and when we kind of came up with this idea, I was like, ‘let’s do it’,” says founder and CEO of Spare Hand Students, Zach Miller.

Zach took his passion with helping people and engaging with the community by creating the app, Spare Hand Students.

“He’s just got something about him where he’s genuine. Being able to take that elsewhere and see him make that impact on other people, regardless of what town it is, is so at least as a parent, it’s rewarding. His mom and I are just so proud,” says Zach’s dad, Sam Miller.

It’s hard for homeowners to find affordable help and it’s hard for students to find work around classes.

Spare Hand Students brings homeowners and students together so students can find jobs like mowing, painting or even grocery shopping.

“When a homeowner goes into the app, they basically get to select the category that they’re looking for, enter a little job description and the date that they would like the job completed by. Then it shows only the students that are available for that specific time that they need it done,” says Zach.

It all started with Zach going door to door and handing out flyers. Now Spare Hand Students has over 3,000 customers.

“We started in January of this year, and then we launched in April. And then we’ve just been going ever since,” says Zach.

Zach says you’re never too young to start up your own business and if you have dreams, keep reaching for them.
