HIGHLIGHTS: Belles return to win column as Christina Clark scores twice

The Angelo State Belles kicked off Lone Star Conference play on Saturday afternoon, hosting the Texas Woman’s Pioneers. Prior to the game, ASU hadn’t scored a goal since Katelin Heise’s 85th-minute penalty kick against East Central on Sept. 14.

The Belles wasted no time on Saturday, as Christina Clark found the back of the net in the 16th minute, which was set up on a free kick by Heise to give ASU a 1-0 lead. In the 39th minute, Clark did it again. She buried her second goal after several bounces near the box, giving the Belles a 2-0 halftime lead. The Belles held on for the win, improving 3-1-2 this season.

ASU goalkeeper Amber Lockwood had another phenomenal game as well, claiming her fifth shutout in six games this season. The Belles return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 2 for a match with the St. Edwards Hilltoppers to close its four-game homestand.
