    Killeen FD specialist leading search and rescue in Florida

    FLORIDA / KILLEEN, Texas ( FOX 44 ) – A member of the Killeen Fire Department is leading search and rescue efforts in Florida after Hurricane Helene.

    According to the Texas Task Force Foundation, Phillip “Flip” Bannister is a Technical Search Specialist on Texas A&M Task Force 1. He also leads and trains the Texas Task Force 1 Water Rescue Team.

    Bannister’s full-time job is as a battalion chief at the Killeen Fire Department and team commander of the technical rescue team. He is also one of the lead paramedic instructors at Central Texas College and a TEEX wide area search instructor.
