Voter Registration Ends in One Week

WACO, Texas ( FOX 44 ) – October 7th, 2024 is the last day to register to vote, and as the days end it is important to know your registration status.

“One of the easiest ways to check your status is to go to votetexas.gov . On that website, you can enter some information, you can see your status, see if you are registered or if you need to make changes such as like updating your address, etc.,” says Elections Administrator Jared Goldsmith.

In McLennan County, there are over 150,000 residents registered to vote. According to Goldsmith, this is the largest number the elections office has ever seen.

Many voters who are not yet registered say they simply have not had the time to register just yet.

“It could be a possibility. I’ve been kind of busy lately, so I can look into it,” says Baylor student Whitney Pino.

The Elections Office is located at 214 N 4th Street, Suite #300, Waco, TX 76701. There, residents can register to vote from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

If you are unable to go to the Elections Office, there are other locations in the community where you can register such as post offices, libraries, the McLennan County Republican Office, and the McLennan County Democratic Office.

For residents who may lack transportation to these locations……

“You can mail your application to us. Make sure though that it’s postmarked on or before October 7th,” says Goldsmith.

As registration ends and early voting approaches, it is important to check your status because you could be suspended or purged.

Early voting starts October 12, 2024, and will run for two weeks. Early voting locations include:

• McLennan County Elections Administration Office, 214 N 4th St # 300, Waco, TX 76701
• Robinson Community Center, 106 W. Lyndale Avenue, Robinson, TX 76706
• Waco Multi-Purpose Community Center, 1020 Elm Avenue, Waco, TX 76704
• First Assembly of God Church, 6701 Bosque Blvd, Waco, TX 76710
• Hewitt City Hall/Library, 200 Patriot Court, Hewitt, TX 76643

The dates and times for early voting are:

• Monday, October 21, 2024 – Friday, October 25, 2024, 8 A.M. – 5 P.M.
• Saturday, October 26, 2024, 7 A.M. – 7 P.M.
• Sunday, October 27, 2024, 1 P.M. – 6 P.M.
• Monday, October 28, 2024 – Friday, November 1, 2024, 7 A.M. – 7 P.M.
