AUSTIN (KXAN) — This month, the Texas Department of Public Safety is offering a limited number of Saturday appointments at certain driver license offices in the state.

The participating offices are located in all regions of Texas , according to DPS. They will be open for half days on Oct. 5, 12, 19 and 26.

DPS said it wants to serve customers who need driver license or ID card renewal or replacement services. DPS also said appointments for new Texas resident driver license and ID card services could also be available depending on the office.

Appointments can be made online. Those with questions about driver license services or what to bring to an upcoming appointment can visit the DPS website .

The agency also previously offered similar appointment openings in September.

DPS said while these appointments filled up fast, many customers failed to show up or cancel. The no-show rate for the September Saturday appointments was around 30%, meaning about one out of every three people failed to show up after booking their appointment, according to DPS.

“No-shows have a huge negative impact on the number of customers the department is able to serve,” DPS said in a statement.

Those who get appointments and can no longer attend are reminded to cancel, so other customers can sign up.
