Water Valley tunes up for district against Red Devils

SAN ANGELO, Texas ( Concho Valley Homepage ) — The Water Valley Wildcats will travel to Rankin for the final nondistrict game of the season Friday night.

The Wildcats are 3-2 after a 73-28 mercy-rule victory against Rochelle last week. Rankin had an open date last week, following a defensive-minded 16-8 squeaker against Borden County two weeks ago.

Rankin leads the all-time series with Water Valley 15-5.

Water Valley head coach Aaron Whitmire likes what he’s seeing from his team for the most part, but he knows there’s always room for improvement.

The Wildcats are scheduled to open district at home against Veribest on Oct. 18 following an open date next week. The Red Devils will clash with Garden City at home next week in the district opener.
