SAN ANGELO, Texas ( Concho Valley Homepage ) —Matthew Johnson, a veteran who served 9 years with the National Guard, started his run in El Paso and plans to make it to Galveston.

“I got out of the military after about 10 years, right under 10 years, and once I got out I got into the fitness space, and now that’s my full-time job. Finding Valor Fit, which is a charity that helps put veterans into the fitness space, was a full circle moment for me to try to help someone get some of the chance that I have now,” said Johnson.

Valor Fit is a veteran nonprofit organization that helps veterans build confidence and work on their well-being. Johnson’s run will take him through Eden and Brady next, and he has raised a little over $11,000 as of Oct. 9.
