WACO, Texas ( FOX 44 ) — Texas Crime Stoppers is a volunteer program designed to empower citizens to report crimes anonymously. The organization hosted a successful conference in Waco this week, focusing on community engagement and public safety.

Monica Lee, a dedicated member of Texas Crime Stoppers in Huntsville, Texas for a decade, praised the event.

“This conference has been immaculate. The experience has been awesome. I think it is one of the best conferences I have attended,” Lee said.

The conference addressed pressing issues, including the national crisis of human trafficking. Keynote speaker Joseph Scaramucci is the Director of Law Enforcement Training for Skull Games, a counter sex trafficking organization. He emphasized the vital role of Crime Stoppers in protecting communities.

“Tips from Crime Stoppers are extremely beneficial in combating trafficking,” Scaramucci noted. “Public education is key, and we need the community to feel comfortable contacting Crime Stoppers anonymously.”

Sessions at the conference focused on collaboration between Crime Stoppers and law enforcement, highlighting efforts to assist victims and survivors. Attendees were moved by a survivor’s story, underscoring the impact of anonymous tips.

“To see how tips make a difference in people’s lives and how the police department believed her is crucial, especially since many victims are not believed,” Lee remarked.
