    San Angelo Chamber of Commerce endorses Proposition A

    SAN ANGELO, Texas ( Concho Valley Homepage ) —After voting in late September, the San Angelo Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors has confirmed its endorsement of the San Angelo Independent School District’s Proposition A.

    According to the SAISD Proposition A webpage , the proposition is a voter-approval tax rate election required by the state asking voters to approve a modified tax rate adopted by the Board of Trustees. SAISD will have access to the maximal amount of tax revenue if approved, providing $6 million of funding in the current fiscal year and each year after for the district’s maintenance and operations instructional budget without the current tax rate increasing. 65% of the money attributed to Proposition A will come from the state.

    The San Angelo Chamber of Commerce stated in a press release that all residents and businesses in the Concho Valley are encouraged to vote in favor of the proposition as the San Angelo Chamber of Commerce Board and Directors are in full support of the proposition.

    “The San Angelo Chamber of Commerce recognizes the importance of maintaining a competitive and thriving business environment and supporting the infrastructure and services that make San Angelo an attractive place to live, work, and conduct business,” said Chris Evatt, Chamber board chair.

    Early voting starts Oct. 21 and will run through Nov. 1, concluding with Election Day on Nov. 5.
