SAN ANGELO, Texas ( Concho Valley Homepage ) — The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Concho Valley organization has been selected to receive $300 from KLST’s Pay it Forward campaign, sponsored by Carpet Tech.

KLST news director Senora Scott spoke with Boys & Girls Clubs of the Concho Valley CEO Tiffany Parker and organization secretary Ashley Hambright about financial issues the nonprofit has faced in recent times.

“What’s happening is that funders that have typically given at a higher level are not able to because their resources have been changed,” Parker said. “We see this happen every four years … but we’re feeling it a little tougher this year than we have in the past.”

Hambright stated that the organization serves approximately 150 children across three facilities, two in San Angelo and one in Menard. The clubs provide several resources for the community, including meals, transportation to schools, tutoring and leadership skill development.

“Above all those things, we provide a safe space for kids during out-of-school hours,” Parker said.

Hambright said that all funds for the organization are gathered locally, with no funds gathered from national entities or programs. To provide financial support for the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Concho Valley, visit the organization’s donation webpage .

“This is a safe place for these kids, and these are future leaders in our community that we need to make sure have those opportunities that they may not have otherwise!” Hambright said.

If you know someone who deserves a little help from the KLST Pay it Forward Campaign, sponsored by Carpet Tech, keep a lookout for Senora Scott — she’ll be holding the “KLST Pay it Forward” sign — and let her know why that person should get that week’s award.
