Teacher of the Week: Lorie Castanuela-Thiers

SAN ANGELO, Texas ( Concho Valley Homepage ) —Lorie Castanuela-Thiers, a Spanish Teacher at Lakeview High School, has been honored as the latest recipient of the “Teacher of the Week” award.

Castanuela-Thiers has been a teacher for 24 years and has taught the ninth through 12th grades. She teaches Spanish II honors and regular, Spanish III, and AP Spanish. She chose her subject of choice because of her desire to share her culture with others.

“Learning a language is something that is difficult, but that way, you’re more marketable, so having a second language under your belt is something that you can use go and build on and maybe have more of a career with that,” said Castanuela.

The person who nominated Castanuela-Thiers says her tireless efforts embody the spirit of teaching and deserve to be celebrated for her unwavering support and dedication.

Additionally, Castanuela-Thiers invests countless hours in orchestrating volunteer events for her Spanish club, empowering students to make a positive impact in the community.
