SAN ANGELO, Texas ( Concho Valley Homepage ) — The residents of Robert Lee have been invited to a celebration after a local woman won a 2024 Chevrolet Camaro as the grand prize of a mobile game competition held by Alon and DK Fuel.

According to DK Fuel , Katherine Davis of Robert Lee won the grand prize of a 2024 Chevy Camaro for the Alon/DK “Race & Win Road Trip Game.”

The game was a mobile racing game that saw players “race through levels, collecting Alon and DK fuel cans to keep their car running, hitting turbo boosts for more speed, and collecting instant-win gift cards redeemable at Alon and DK stations.” Players would also be entered into the grand prize drawing every time they played.

Hunter Jackson, lead advertising specialist for Alon and DK Fuel, said that over 20,000 people played the game and over 75,000 grand prize drawing entries were submitted.

Davis, who said she patronizes the Allsup’s Convenience in Robert Lee “every other day if not every day,” stated she decided to start playing the game for fun and to capitalize on possible instant-win rewards.

“I get text messages from DK because I’m one of their rewards members … and every time they send me anything, I just think, ‘Oh, that looks like fun! I’m going to click on a link, I’m going to play a little game or enter this sweepstakes,'” Davis said. “I never thought that I would actually win the grand prize.”

Davis said she learned through an email that she had won the grand prize in early September. She initially didn’t believe she had won, however.

“Originally, when I got the email, I thought it was a scam,” Davis said. “It wasn’t until the following Wednesday when they re-emailed me that I was like, ‘Oh my goodness, I think this is actually the sweepstakes!'”

Upon realizing she had won the grand prize, Davis said she felt both excited and nervous.

“It was definitely a really exciting experience,” Davis said. “I didn’t even want to get excited about it at first because I was like, ‘What am I doing?'”

Chevrolet announced in March 2023 that the 2024 Camaro model would be retired at the beginning of 2024. The model is priced at $32,495 by Kelley Blue Book .

Davis said that she and her family plan to use her prize vehicle for road trips and to visit friends and family across Texas.

“We love to do road trips all the time anytime we get a chance, so it’s definitely going to be used as a road trip car, which I think is in great fashion for the contest!” Davis said. “It’s definitely going to be something that we’re going to use and cherish for quite a while.”

To celebrate the occasion, Alon and DK will hold a celebration on Oct. 18 for the Robert Lee community at the Allsup’s Convenience Store at 820 Commerce St. The event is scheduled to last from noon to 2 p.m. and will feature “sweets, free giveaways and more ways to win,” according to DK Fuel . Davis will be presented with her grand prize car during the festivities.

“I think that Robert Lee is a beautiful and wonderful close-knit community and that we’re going to continue to grow and thrive and just be each other’s best friends,” Davis said.
