The keynote speaker for the dinner was Lt. Gen. Kevin D. Admiral, who is the Commanding General of III Armored Corps and Fort Cavazos. According to the Office of Pete Sessions, Lt. Gen. Admiral has led soldiers at all levels across four divisions in the United States and overseas.

The Congressional Veterans Commendation says it is a nominations-based program which recognizes veterans for their military service and community involvement. The program believes honorees are exceptional Americans in every way.
