SAN ANGELO, Texas ( Concho Valley Homepage ) — San Angelo Fire Department members were recognized for their bravery at the San Angelo City Council meeting on Oct 15.

Three members of the rescue team that worked to save five people from dangerous flood waters in Miles last month all received the San Angelo Fire Department’s Medal of Honor it’s a rare honor that is the highest active duty service award for SAFD.

“For a life-saving event in a dangerous situation that they were put into and knowingly and went ahead and did what they do and we appreciate them for that and we wanted to honor them with that award and just let them know how much we appreciate what they do,” said Assistant Fire Chief Johnny Fisher from the San Angelo Fire Department.

The volunteer firefighters of Quail Valley were awarded the prestigious citizen service award for saving an ambulance crew that was also stuck in the flood.
