Luby’s Cafeteria mass shooting: 33 years later

KILLEEN, Texas ( FOX 44 ) – October 16, 2024, marks the 33rd anniversary of the mass shooting at Luby’s Cafeteria in Killeen.

George Hennard, of Belton, drove his truck into the glass windows of the restaurant on October 16, 1991. He exited his vehicle and started firing upon patrons.

Hennard shot 50 people in a little less than 15 minutes. Over 20 of them died at the scene, with some dying afterwards.

After Hennard took his own life once officers arrived, law enforcement found more ammunition on him. They believe he was planning on using the ammo to hurt more people.
