ASU host guest presentation by Enron Whistleblower

SAN ANGELO, Texas ( Concho Valley Homepage )— Angelo State University will host the 2024 installment of the Oliver, Rainey & Wotjek Guest Speaker Series on Monday, Oct. 21.

According to ASU, the guest speaker will be Sherron Watkins, former vice president of Enron Corporation and internationally known as the “Enron whistleblower.” The presentation will be held at 5:30 p.m. in the University Center’s C.J. Davidson Conference Center, located at 1910 Rosemont Drive.

In August of 2001, it was Watkins who alerted and warned Enron’s then-CEO Ken Lacy about accounting irregularities within the company that might end up leaving the company in a few scandals. She also testified before the U.S. House and Senate Congressional Committees, which investigated Enron.

“Watkins now lectures on leadership and ethics, as well as the lessons learned from the Enron scandal. She is also the co-author of ‘Power Failure: The Inside Story of the Collapse of Enron,'” said ASU.
