SHREVEPORT, La. ( KTAL/KMSS )—A nature park in Shreveport that is closed at night will open its gates for night hikers in early November.

A campfire will be burning, and smores will be set up and ready for a yummy treat when you attend the Red River Refuge After Dark event from 6:00 – 8:oo p.m. on Nov. 2.

Join in the fun for a story walk, and if you wish, you can participate in activities that will help you learn about nocturnal animals in the park.

The refuge is typically closed at dark, but the after-dark Halloween-related mini-activities and treat candy prizes are perfect for the kiddos.

The event is free if you’re a Friends of Red River Refuge member. However, non-members must pay a $5 admission fee for the evening or join Friends of the Red River Refuge and pay the membership fee instead.

The visitor’s center and the nature store will be open until 8:15 p.m.
