    Dove hunting begins Sept.1

    SAN ANGELO, Texas ( Concho Valley Homepage ) — The 2024 Dove Hunting Season starts on Sept. 1.

    According to the press release by Texas Parks and Wildlife the dove population is near a record high across large portions of Texas. The population of white-winged doves has grown around four percent this year. This makes it a new record high with an estimated 12.8 million White-winged doves.

    The daily limit is 15 white-winged, mourning and white-tipped doves in the aggregate and no more than 2 white-tipped. The legal shooting hours are one-half hour before sunrise to sunset.

    If you plan on hunting dove this year, you’ll need a hunting license, a Migratory Game Bird Endorsement and a Harvest Information Program certifications. All updated regulations for this year’s hunting season can be found in the link below.
