MIDLAND, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) – Two people were seriously injured early Thursday morning from a crash caused by distracted driving.

Around 2:15 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 17, Midland Police responded to a crash with serious bodily injuries in the 10000 block of State Highway 191.

“The driver, identified as 32-year-old Nolbert Camilo Marrero, stated that he became distracted while driving, causing him to veer off the main lanes of Highway 191 into the center median,” MPD reported. “He then overcorrected, re-entering the main lanes before losing control and entered the south median where the vehicle began rolling. The vehicle subsequently rolled across the south service road and into a nearby field.”

Police also reported that two women were ejected from the 2008 Ford F150 and then transported to Midland Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.

Police reported charges of intoxication assault are pending against Marrero, who is from Albuquerque, New Mexico.
