More than 800 power outages reported in Benton County now resolved

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Hundreds of electricity customers in Benton County were without power on Tuesday afternoon.

Storms had rolled through Mid-Missouri earlier in the day and much of Mid-Missouri is in a tornado watch that is set to expire around 8 p.m.

There were 835 electric customers without power in Benton County at its peak, with 790 coming from Co-Mo Electric Cooperative, according to the Association of Missouri Electric Cooperatives outage map. Another 39 were reported from Southwest Electric Co-op, four were from Sac Osage Electric and two were customers of Central Missouri Electric Cooperative. There were just 28 outages left at 6:30 p.m.

The outage map showed 81 outages in Howard County for Howard Electric Cooperative and 34 Ameren customers also lost power at its, according to AMEC’s and Ameren’s outage maps. No outages were reported in Howard County by 6:30 p.m. Customers for Howard Electric were also affected in Boone, Chariton and Randolph counties.

Another 95 outages were reported in Camden County for Laclede Electric Cooperative customers at its peak. The outage was down to four by 6:30 p.m. The City of Camdenton also issued a press release on Tuesday stating that a planned power outage will occur from 1-3 a.m. Wednesday for about 2,500 customers.

In Macon County, there were 42 outages for Macon Electric Cooperative customers at its peak, all of which were resolved by 6:30 p.m.
