Folks need to remember that most of the people in jail have not been convicted, most are in pre trial confinement and have not been convicted of a crime. Innocent until proven guilty? No money for bond? Sorry, now go to jail. People can be imprisoned for two years waiting for trial, if your not guilty you are not given anything for the loss of time, if guilty you get that time deducted from your sentence. Often people can receive less time as a punishment that the time they spend in jail waiting on a trial.
