Columbia asks for feedback through community survey

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The City of Columbia has mailed a community survey to a random sample of residences, asking residents for feedback on issues impacting the community, a Wednesday press release from the city says.

“Our consultant has designed a sampling plan that ensures the completion of at least 800 surveys from a random sample of households in Columbia.  That random sample of 800 completed surveys will provide results that have a precision of at least +/-4% at the 95% level of confidence and will be valid at the Census block level.  Additionally, the random sample shall include at least 100 completed responses from each of the City's six wards,” according to an email from Creative Services and Marketing Manager Brian Adkisson.

The survey includes 32 questions related to city services, many of which have “sub questions” that makes up roughly 120 questions in total, Adkisson wrote. The city asks residents to complete the survey within 10 days of receiving it.

Surveys include return envelopes with prepaid postage and responses will remain confidential, the release says. The survey is conducted by the ETC Institute, which has conducted the city’s community surveys since 2003, the release says.

ETC Institute will share the results with the City Council during a public work session, the release says.
