Several firefighters treated for ‘heat-related complaints’ at scene of California house fire

CALIFORNIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Several firefighters were treated on scene at a house fire in California on Monday night.

According to a Facebook post from Moniteau County 911 & Emergency Management, several 911 calls were made just before 10 p.m. on Monday for a house fire in the 500 block of East Mulberry Street.

Units from California Fire Department, California Rural Fire Protection District and Jamestown Rural Fire Protection District responded and found heavy flames showing from the front of the home, according to the social media post.

MidMO Ambulance treated multiple firefighters on the scene for heat-related reasons, none required ambulance transport.

A 9-year-old is credited for waking his family to alert them to the fire allowing them all to get out safely, the social media post states. The family dog was treated with oxygen by firefighters.

The release states units were on the scene for more than four hours but the fire was under control after about 40 minutes.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the State Fire Marshal.
