A Henrietta teenager suffered serious injuries after he was struck attempting to cross a state highway on his bicycle.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the unnamed teenager was on his bicycle at the intersection of Third Street and Elm, which is also Route H in Henrietta. Troopers say the teenager ran a stop sign around 9:45 a.m. Saturday and went into the path of a truck driven by a 39-year-old man from Concordia. The teenager was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash according to troopers, and was flown to a Kansas City area hospital. The truck’s driver had no reported injuries.
