Missouri Main Street Connection (MMSC) has selected Marshall for its Community Empowerment Grant.

The Community Empowerment Grant program aims to help communities start a Main Street program and begin building a successful downtown with new investment, businesses, residents, and events celebrating all that makes a downtown the heart of the community.

This grant will go towards helping the newly-formed Marshall Main Street program as it develops a plan for the community and future in Marshall. Marshall Main Street President Rebecca Adams said securing the grant has been a community-wide effort.

Adams initially applied for the grant in May. She says that the Directors of Missouri Main Street are planning a town hall to answer questions and get feedback from the community.

Adams says she hopes to improve the quality of life for residents and tourists in the community.

Other area communities that are participating with Missouri Main Street include Sedalia, Warrensburg, Salisbury, Fayette, Glasgow, and Carrollton.
