STORMS DELAY INEVITABLE RETURN OF SUMMER HEAT

Saturday’s storms delayed for Central Missouri what areas to the west are now sending our way: one last blast of summer heat and humidity.

Virtually the entire KMMO listening area will go under a heat advisory Sunday from 1 p.m. until at least 8 p.m. Monday. The National Weather Service is calling for temperatures in the mid-to-upper 90s through Wednesday, with the heat index reaching 105 in several areas. Forecasters remind everyone to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, and check on relatives and neighbors.

Anyone going outside is reminded to wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing, as well as limit strenuous activity to early morning or evening.
