The Marshall Municipal Utilities Board of Public Works accepted a proposal from Reed Environmental to clean a lagoon during its meeting on Wednesday, September 25.

Water Treatment Plant Superintendent Travis Boss said the lagoon has become filled with residual particles like silt and lime, and this has caused operational issues. The board reviewed four proposals coming in as high as $180,000. The voted to accept the proposal from Reed Environmental in the amount of $88,400. This proposal includes $38,400 for dredging, and $50,000 for land application.

Lagoon dredging involves using a dredging system containing a powerful pump to excavate the sediment.

In other news, the board approved a motion to request bids for a utility service body for a replacement truck for the Underground Facilities Department.
