ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Ahead of a series against the Milwaukee Brewers at Busch Stadium, the St. Louis Cardinals made a flurry of roster moves, which included optioning down outfielder Jordan Walker eight days after calling him back up to the majors .

On Tuesday, the Cardinals announced designated hitter Matt Carpenter has been removed from the 10-day Injured List. Along with that first baseman Luken Baker has been called up from Triple-A Memphis.

As corresponding moves, the Cardinals optioned Walker back to Triple-A Memphis and granted shortstop Brandon Crawford his unconditional release.

Walker was called up on Aug. 18, right around a little close to four months after being demoted to the minors in April. Walker saw 12 plate appearances in his second with the Cardinals in 2024, registering only one hit in 11 at-bats and walking once, while striking out three times.

Crawford was signed by the Cardinals in the middle of Spring Training in late-February to mostly serve as a depth piece in the infield. During Crawford's brief cup of coffee in St. Louis, Crawford appeared in 28 games for the Cardinals, registering 12 hits in 72 at-bats, hitting a slash line of .169/.263/.282 with a homer and four RBIs.

Baker has had a solid year with the Redbirds in Memphis, registering a .880 OPS in 108 for the Redbirds this year, smashing 32 home runs and registering 75 RBIs.

He deserves better. Goldschmidt, Gorman and others failed their fans last night. Give Jordan a chance. He can't do worse.
