Alton Police searching for man who tried to lure young girl at her bus stop

ALTON, Ill. (KMOX) - The Alton Police is looking for a man trying to lure a young girl into his vehicle at her bus stop.

On Tuesday, Alton Police responded to a report of a Canton, Illinois, man trying to lure a young girl into his vehicle at her bus stop.

According to the Madison County State Attorney's Office, Michael J. Roberts attempted to offer a 15-year-old girl a ride, but couldn't explain a lawful reason for doing so.

Roberts reportedly claimed he didn't know the girl was 15 or that she was at a bus stop.

The Madison County State Attorney Office charged Roberts with attempted child abduction.

Roberts reportedly returned to Canton and remains at large. His vehicle is described to be a black Dodge Charger with Illinois registration E-U-74-6-9-9.
