A Millstadt, Illinois man was killed in a motorcycle crash on near Interstate 55 at the 34-mile marker.

Dylan Hardin, 22, was operating and sole occupant of a red 2024 Honda CBX 1000 motorcycle that was traveling southbound on the frontage road (Old US Route 66) paralleling the interstate at a high rate of speed.

According to the Madison County Coroner's Office, for unknown reasons, Hardin left the roadway and crashed into the median area next to the interstate. Hardin was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The Madison County Coroner's Office said Hardin family's discovered the crash scene after they became concerned when he did not return home and used a cell phone app to track his location. They notified 9-1-1 at 2:41 a.m.

A Madison County Coroner’s Office investigator pronounced Hardin's death at 3:36 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Madison County Coroner's Office says preliminary cause of death is blunt head and chest trauma. Routine toxicological testing will be performed to test for the presence of intoxicants.

The crash remains under investigation by the Illinois State Police and the Madison County Coroner’s Office.
