A policeman in the United Kingdom has been suspended from all his official duties following the release of footage showing him kicking a man in the face at a busy international airport.

Knewz.com has learned that the video was filmed during a fracas that involved female police officers and resulted in at least two arrests .

The footage captured on July 4, depicts a uniformed taser-wielding officer first kicking a recumbent male in his face with the toe of his boot and then stomping down on his head before pressing his right knee into his back.

A shoeless Muslim woman in traditional wear tries to fend off the policeman’s blows with her hands but then gets up and steps away.

In the background, another individual is seen being manhandled off a chair and onto the ground while the sparks from a stun gun flare up on the individual’s back.

Accompanying police officers soon became aware of the camera and were depicted shooing the opportunistic filmmaker away before the video cut out.

The footage went viral in the UK forcing the police to weigh in saying in an initial statement that the incident was being “assessed” by a bureau of standards.

The public, already enraged, took to protesting outside the police station where the officer in question was based, leading to his suspension.

An update from the from the department stated :

“Following a thorough review of further information that has become available in relation to an incident at Manchester Airport on Tuesday evening, Greater Manchester Police has suspended a police officer from all duties.”

“A referral has now been made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct for a full independent investigation .”

“We understand the deep concerns that have been widely raised with us, and will continue to meet and discuss these feelings with Greater Manchester residents and elected representatives, whilst this independent investigation takes place,” the statement assured.

The recently elected Prime Minister Keir Starmer also weighed in. He confirmed that the officer had been (at least temporarily) relieved of his duties, saying:

“There has now been the suspension of one police officer this morning and the home secretary is meeting the Mayor of (Greater Manchester) to discuss this as we speak now.”

The law enforcement division’s version of events alleged that airport police were alerted to a fight.

When they tried to intervene, they were assaulted and one officer suffered a broken nose.

It was at that point the gloves came off and the now-penalized officer handed out his own brand of violence .

According to the Independent , certain entities in police circles defended the officer’s actions citing concerns that if they (the concerned policemen and women) had been overpowered by the rowdy individuals, they could have had their firearms taken from them—which would then have posed an even greater threat.

Despite this reasoning, there is an overwhelming sentiment condemning the policeman’s actions with the former Metropolitan Police Superintendent, Leroy Logan, describing them as “disproportionate” and “unnecessary”.
