France has spared little to no expense, deploying soldiers , fighter jets, sniffer dogs, and drones amounting to a 75,000-strong security force to ensure the safety of the 2024 Olympics.

Knewz.com has learned that this intense focus on security was triggered by fears of an imminent terrorist attack on the anticipated 350,000 spectators and diplomats expected to converge on the Seine riverside opening ceremony.

Of the security personnel guarding the event, 45,000 are policemen and women who will be on duty during the opening ceremony (and then 35,000 daily thereafter). Another 10,000 soldiers will be active on the streets while an additional 1,900 security operatives from 40 countries will be present to assist.

Paris will also use AI surveillance systems like cameras to help with threat identifications and depend heavily on its canine force to clear locations before they fill up with contestants and spectators.

As a nod to the latter, the French Government’s Defense website noted: “The 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games represent an unprecedented deployment for military canine teams.”

The airspace over Paris will also be off-limits to all traffic due to a no-fly zone and what has been described as “protective bubbles”.

To accomplish this objective, it will employ 12 Crotale New Generation short-range air defense missile units, hand-held anti-drone weapons, Rafale fighter jets, and helicopters with snipers.

It will also have an Airborne Warning & Control System (AWACS) aircraft lurking over Paris.

Security measures will be deployed at sea with the French Navy sealing off any marine approaches to hotspots and competition venues, while commandos will linger close to water events, per Ministère des Armées .

The scale of these measures, dubbed the “largest-ever peace deployment in the country’s history”, comes amidst warnings by France’s Interior Minister, Gérald Darmanin.

In a briefing with local officials, he stated that the terrorist threat remained “extremely strong”.

“In recent days, we have not made it public because we are in an election campaign, but we have questioned people who may have put terrorist attacks into their heads and in place,” Darmanin added.

He further noted that “several arrests ” were made “in two different places where we had very serious doubts.”

“They are being handed over to the justice services at this very moment.”

Darmanin’s statement follows the arrest of a Russian chef who had been living in the country for the last 14 years.

According to reports, the saboteur-to-be had been planning “large scale acts of destabilization.”

His home was raided on July 21, when officers found a document linking him to Russia’s national security agency (FSB).

“We think very strongly that he was going to organize operations of destabilization, interference, spying,” Darmanin speculated at the time.

“Terrorist action does not only take place during the Olympic Games, it could take place at any time, we are particularly vigilant,” he concluded via BFMTV .
