Apple has officially announced the 10th iteration of the Apple Watch, the Apple Watch Series 10, at today’s “It’s Glowtime” event .

The new Apple Watch Series 10 sports an updated design; it’s sleeker, larger, and brighter. It’s just 9.7 millimeters thick, about 10 percent thinner than the Series 9.

Apple also stated that the larger OLED panel on the Watch Series 10 is 40 percent brighter and is the largest display used on an Apple Watch since its inception. This allows the smartwatch to show an extra line of text, so checking out texts and emails on the Apple Watch is not more convenient.

The Apple Watch Series 10 will be the first Apple Watch to sport sleep apnea detection. This feature uses the Watch’s accelerometer to monitor a user’s breathing over time.

The condition is difficult to manage. It causes the affected person to suddenly stop breathing while they sleep, which is usually detected using a plethora of equipment.

While the Apple Watch won’t be able to prevent sleep apnea, it will notify the user and deliver a detailed report to present to the doctor.

The new Apple Watch is also more water-resistant, as it is certified for high-speed water sports up to 20 meters deep. In addition, Apple is also bringing the Deep app, which was exclusive to the Apple Watch Ultra models, to the Series 10.

A polished titanium version has replaced the stainless steel version, and a new Jet Black version made of polished aluminum is available.

The Apple Watch Series 10 starts at $399 for the 44 mm variant. Pre-orders begin on Friday, September 13, with the official launch set for September 20.
