iPhone 16 Pro, Pro Max launched: Larger displays, new ultrawide lens

After several months of wild leaks and anticipation, we finally have the iPhone 16 series . The new iPhone 16 was finally launched alongside the Apple Watch Series 10 , new AirPods 4 models , and the AirPods Max refresh .

However, the most exciting time of the event was when Apple introduced the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max, largely because these Pro models have multiple upgrades compared to their predecessors, the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max , such as larger displays, thinner bezels, and more.

iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max: new camera and faster performance

This year’s Pro iPhones are slightly larger. The iPhone 16 Pro is 6.3 inches, and the iPhone 16 Pro Max is 6.9 inches, a 0.2-inch increase from the previous generation.

The bezels have also shrunk down, making the displays look even bigger.

The iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max sport the new A18 Pro Bionic chip, which is 15% faster than last year’s A17 Pro chip and consumes 20% less power.

The new chip is designed to handle Apple Intelligence’s on-device tasks and other intensive tasks, such as 4K recording at 120 FPS.

Like the standard iPhone 16 models, the Pro iPhone 16 models offer the cool Camera Control button. A new Photographic Styles feature also changes the colors when shooting.

In addition, the 12MP ultra-wide camera has been upgraded to 48MP and has autofocus support. The smaller iPhone 16 Pro now offers the tetraprism lens, which was exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro Max, enabling 5x optical and 25x digital zooms on the iPhone 16 Pro.

According to Apple, both iPhone 16 Pro models feature larger batteries, but the company didn’t specify anything at the event.

iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max: price and availability

If you are a connoisseur of the Pro iPhones, get ready to throw in some big bucks because these are some of the most expensive smartphones in the market. The iPhone 16 Pro starts at $999, while the 16 Pro Max starts at $1,099.

As usual, the Pro iPhone models have more muted tones and are available in Black, White, and Natural Titanium finishes, except for the new Desert Titanium finish, which has the only brighter tone.

Like the vanilla and Plus iPhone 16 models, the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max pre-orders start on Friday, September 13, and availability begins on September 20.
