Suzan Nash of Macomb is now a member of the Illinois Community Action Hall of Fame. She was inducted during a recent conference in Springfield. Nash worked at Western Illinois Regional Council for more than 40 years. She started there as an intern in 1978. She became acting executive director in 1981, and soon afterwards was appointed executive director.
West Nile Virus still a concern, especially with recent rains
It might not be the really big deal it first was when it was first discovered, but for the Knox County Health Department, West Nile Virus is still a big enough deal. Health Department officials say they still test for the mosquito-borne disease through mosquito pools, and in several different types of dead birds that might transmit the disease to mosquitoes.

Knox County Sheriff’s Office arrest Macomb on drug charges
Galesburg, Ill.- The Knox County, Illinois Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of a Macomb man on drug charges. According to a news release, on Wednesday, June 26th, the Knox County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Unit, assisted by the Knoxville Police Department, conducted a drug investigation and intercepted multiple packages of narcotics heading to a residence in Macomb.
Knox County Purchases Future Administrative Building
The Knox County Board has purchased a building to be used for Administrative offices. The discussion about space issues in the Courthouse have been going on for years. While many options have been proposed, the County Board has now secured the property at 50 East Main Street in Galesburg to solve those issues. The new facility is tentatively scheduled to house the County Clerk & Recorder, County Treasurer, and County Assessor offices. This facility will allow for better access to these offices in an effort to provide improved services to the constituents. “We are excited to announce that the County of Knox is moving forward with this new facility to provide the citizens of Knox County with an improved customer experience and ease of access to these very critical offices of the County” stated Knox County Board Chair Jared Hawkinson. “There is still a lot of work to be done, but this is a major step forward in the process.” Planning and design work for the building will begin soon with the goal of moving these offices by early next year. Man arrested in Knox County Sheriff’s Office drug bust
KNOX Co., Ill. (KWQC) - The Knox County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Unit with assistance from the Knoxville Police Department intercepted narcotics heading to Macomb. Kiel Branchfield, 42, of Macomb is charged with cannabis trafficking and possession with intent to deliver or manufacture a controlled substance, according to a media release from the sheriff’s office. Branchfield was booked into the Knox County Jail.
