Knox County Police Nab Theft Suspect
Knox County Sheriff Mike Smith says deputies responded to a complaint of a reported theft of a garden tiller at a residence on Hazel Fork Road in Gray. The owner of the tiller had attempted to hold the perpetrator until the deputies arrived but he was able to get away, however the owner was able to video the man. During the investigation, police determined his identity to be that of 41-year-old Robbie Renner, of Bronston. Sheriff Smith found Renner in a trailer park on US 25 E in Gray. Renner attempted to flee on foot but was apprehend without incident. Renner was charged with theft by unlawful taking or disposition and criminal mischief. He was also wanted on a Whitley County Bench Warrant for failure to appear on public intoxication – controlled substance and contempt of court charges. While being processed at the Knox County Detention Center two bags of suspected methamphetamine were discovered on him, so promoting contraband and trafficking charges were added.

On Friday, July 5, 2024, Knox County Deputies responded to a complaint of a reported theft of a garden tiller at a residence on Hazel Fork Road in Gray.
