Tennessee high school football teams are now in their routines as Week 2 of the 2024 TSSAA football season continues Friday.
Alcoa travels to Bearden in the Knox News Game of the Week on Friday, looking to avoid a 0-2 start. Bearden won in triple OT over West in a Saturday opener last weekend, while the Tornadoes lost at home to Ravenwood.
We'll also keep tabs on games like Jefferson County-Sevier County, Gibbs-Halls and Farragut-Powell on Friday.
Knox News will have updates throughout the second Friday night of the high school season, so follow along as highlights, stories and final scores come in from all the opening games. Note: Some games have moved back start times to 7:30 p.m. on Friday to combat high temperatures.

WEEK 2 TSSAA SCORES: East Tennessee high school football scoreboard
After Halls' fake field goal goes poorly in OT, Gibbs scores on its drive to win via a Da'Juan Harris 9-yard touchdown run.
Gibbs drives down the field in the final minutes, then ties the game on a 39-yard field goal as regulation expired. 22-all heading into overtime.
Alcoa's Eli Graf returned the ensuing kickoff to the Bearden 23-yard line, which left just enough time for a Kyrin Tyson walk-off 40-yard field goal at the buzzer.
Going to be a difficult finish to top in 2024. Wow. Alcoa 24, Bearden 22.
Bearden is stunned. What a seven days of up-and-down, dramatic football for that program.
Torian Riggins caps a long drive for Bearden with a short TD run, then Drew Parrott takes it himself to score the go-ahead two-point conversion with 14 seconds to play. What a drive for Bearden, who leads 22-21.
With the weather-impacted staggered starts, the games from the early starts are slowly starting to go final.
- Sevier County 35, Jefferson County 14
- Maryville 31, Central 0
- Powell 21, Farragut 0
- Gibbs 16, Halls 3 (2nd)
- Maryville 17, Central 0

Anderson County HS principal Ben Downs tweeted that the Anderson County-Science Hill game has yet to begin due to a lightning delay.
Alcoa scores 14 unanswered points, including this catch-and-pitch play to Condis Cherry to lead 14-7.
But Bearden ties the game at 14 on a Terry Beaufort TD catch on a deep ball.
Bearden's Jayzon Thompson is having a very good start to his junior season with his second TD in two games (well, four quarters).
Some other games have been delayed on Friday to varying times during the evening.
