Updating Tennessee rankings in college football polls after routing NC State

Tennessee football jumped three spots in the US LBM Coaches Poll to No. 9 and seven spots in the AP Top 25 to No. 7 after beating NC State 51-10 in Week 2 of the 2024 season.

The Vols won big over previously ranked NC State. No. 7 Notre Dame lost to Northern Illinois and No. 9 Michigan lost to No. 3 Texas, as ranked in the coaches poll. That helped UT climb into the top 10.

Last week, the Vols were ranked No. 12 in the coaches poll and No. 14 in the AP poll.

Tennessee (2-0) plays Kent State (0-2) on Saturday (7:45 p.m. ET, SEC Network) at Neyland Stadium.
