Unfortunately, there's too much going on around Knoxville to take a breather. The Gay Street Bridge is still closed to cars and pedestrians after the Tennessee Department of Transportation discovered a problem with a part of the bridge's support. Repairs can begin after a routine inspection is complete.

Today, the city of Knoxville will close another part of Gay Street, but luckily it's not for maintenance! The Arts and Culture Alliance will host a block party for First Friday on the 100 block of Gay Street, right where the Emporium Center is located. Pistol Creek Catch of the Day will perform live music, and new artwork will be presented inside the Emporium. The street will be closed 4-10 p.m. and the party is 5-9 p.m.

The coffee shop scene has been in a tizzy with the Honeybee Coffee hullabaloo. To catch you up to speed, self-proclaimed entrepreneur Aaron Hensley purchased a majority ownership of Honeybee from owner Norris Hill back in February. Since then, the local coffee shop sent bizarre promotional messages to customers, changed how employees get paid, lost most of its staff, closed two shops and now the new owner has ghosted everyone.

Honeybee almost wasn't the only Knoxville business to be affected by Hensley's antics, with a pizzeria and a former South Knoxville restaurant denying offers from Hensley before Honeybee.

In case you missed it, two alternative music venues have announced that they will be closing. BrickYard Bar & Grill closed in Bearden at the beginning of June. Although it's gone, the owners have posted on Facebook stating that they're looking for a new space, and they're hosting meetups to keep everyone connected. The Concourse also announced it is closing with one big DJ show Aug. 17.

    See y'all later!
