    Thousands left without power in Knox County after storms move through

    KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. (WATE) — Thousands of Knoxville Utilities Board customers were without power after storms moved through the region Friday afternoon.

    On Friday, a group of strong storms blew through the region, bringing along with it some heavy rain and strong winds.

    KUB shared on Facebook that the storms caused damage and resulted in some power outages in its service territory, but crews were working to restore power.

    At the height of the outages, more than 3,500 KUB customers were without power, according to the the KUB outage map. The outages on the map were dispersed around the coverage area. As of 4:55, only 387 customers were without power.

    In the meantime, KUB shares that customers can track outages and see estimated restoration times at KUB.org or on KUB’s mobile app.
