FORT WORTH, Tex. (WJHL) – It was another busy day for Tennessee Vols turning pro, as four more members of the Big Orange were selected in Rounds 3-10 of the 2024 MLB Draft.

UT’s Moore selected No. 8 overall in 2024 MLB Draft

The second selection of the whole day was All-American pitcher, Drew Beam, who went No. 76 overall to the Kansas City Royals.

Beam started 19 games for Tennessee this past season, turning in a record of 9-2, striking out 99 batters in 102.1 innings pitched.

Kavares Tears went next at No. 134 overall – a compensatory pick of the San Diego Padres in the Fourth Round.

The outfielder was an All-SEC selection as a redshirt-sophomore in 2024. He hit .324 on the season with an OPS of 1.070. He tallied 62 RBI and 20 home runs at the dish, while also earning a perfect fielding percentage on defense.

Right-handed Pitcher AJ Causey was a Fifth Round selection of the Kansas City Royals (No. 138 overall), joining teammate Drew Beam in the Midwest.

Causey was a Third Team All-American and finished with 13 victories on the season, tied for the most in the country in 2024. His 125 strikeouts also led the Vols’ pitching staff this past season.

Finally, Aaron Combs was selected No. 229 overall in the Eighth Round by the Chicago White Sox. The right-handed relief pitcher finished the campaign with a 3-1 record and a 3.35 ERA.

He racked up six saves for the Big Orange in 2024, including closing out the SEC Tournament Championship and MCWS Finals championship games.

Rounds 11-20 will conclude the 2024 MLB Draft on Tuesday. The first selection will come at 2 p.m. ET.
