Morgan Wallen’s decade-long country career has been a balancing act between shattering records and offstage woes. The “Cowgirls” singer is currently helming his insanely popular One Night at a Time World Tour. Additionally, he just scored his 10th Top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 with his latest single, “Lies Lies Lies.” Last month, Wallen sparked curiosity among social media users when he deactivated his Instagram account. Fans began speculating that a big announcement was on the horizon. And on Monday (July 15), Wallen returned to Instagram to announce he was fulfilling a lifelong dream.

Morgan Wallen Announces Hometown Show: “Nothing Tops This”

Morgan Wallen is a boisterous supporter of the University of Tennessee Volunteers. The 31-year-old country star grew up in Sneedville, a small town about 70 miles northeast of Knoxville. He later moved to the college town in his teenage years.

Now, the “I Had Some Help” singer is coming home. On Monday (July 15), Wallen shared a montage of concert footage, scenes from inside Neyland Stadium, and snapshots of his beloved Vols. The video—set to the tune of “Rocky Top—” announced the singer’s Sept. 22 headlining show at Neyland Stadium.

“I’m coming home,” wrote the “Whiskey Glasses” singer in the caption.

Longtime friends HARDY and ERNEST will join Wallen onstage at the home of the Volunteers. Tickets go on sale at 11 a.m. Eastern tomorrow (Wednesday, July 17) via Wallen’s official website.

“I’ve had the honor of playing in a lot of college, MLB and NFL stadiums the past two years, but getting to play to my hometown at Neyland Stadium, nothing tops this for a boy from East Tennessee,” Wallen said in a statement to Country Now.

Even Spotify’s official Instagram account weighed in on the exciting news. “screaming rocky top with MW is very high on our wish list,” the streaming giant wrote in a comment.

Fans Are Already Worried About Cancellations

It’s a huge deal for Morgan Wallen to headline a show on his favorite team’s home field. However, the hitmaker recently missed two shows in Tampa and Charlotte due to illness. And those cancellations were still fresh on some fans’ minds.

“are you gonna show up or,” one X/Twitter user commented.

Wallen wasn’t without his defenders, though. “To everyone complaining life happens he has had issues before with his voice maybe give grace to people when they get sick,” one fan wrote on X/Twitter.
