On June 6, Arwood was in court for a preliminary hearing and after hearing witness testimony and seeing video of the shooting, the judge bound the case over to a grand jury. Police reports claimed that Arwood was an ex-employee of Russell and had been fired by Russell a week before the shooting.

Russell worked as a school bus driver and was at the automotive center where buses were held when the shooting occurred. According to police, Arwood had been using a room at the center as a residence. He was due to leave on the day of the shooting.

According to court records, an arraignment has been set for July 26.

In June, Russell’s family said they wanted others to remember him as a loving, caring and respectful person.
