Last summer and fall are the best times in Knoxville to immerse yourself in cultural delights from around the world. Asian, Greek, Indian and Latin celebrations are coming soon.
Cultural festivals have been a part of Knoxville celebrations for decades, and they serve a huge community gatherings. Expect lots of food, of course, and also music, art and education.
Here's all the information you need to mark your calendars and plan ahead!
The India Fest brings a flavor of Indian street food, culture and arts to East Tennessee. It's held at the Hindu temple in Lenoir City, just a short drive from Knoxville.
When: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Aug. 3
Where: Hindu Community Center, 8580 Hickory Creek Road, Lenoir City
Tickets: Free admission
Go for: Vendors selling clothing, jewellery and arts, Indian food, Henna vendors and opportunities to learn yoga, Bollywood dancing and Sanskrit language.
When: Limited attendance 6 to 9 p.m. Sept. 7 and the full festival runs from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 8
Where: World's Fair Park in downtown Knoxville
Tickets: The festival is levying a fee for the first time since its launch. The price for a Sept. 8 day pass is $3 for anyone 12 and over, and can be purchased online at knoxasianfestival.com .
Go for: Meet real ninjas , sample food from Japan, Indonesia, China, Philippines, India and more, and enjoy traditional performances.
When: 4 to 10 p.m. Sept. 21 and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 22
Where: World's Fair Park in downtown Knoxville.
Tickets: $3 for anyone 12 and over
Go for: Live music, parade of nations, heritage booths celebrating Latin culture, authentic food and a fireworks show.
When: 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sept. 27 and 28 and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 29
Where: Saint George Greek Orthodox Church, 4070 Kingston Pike, Knoxville
Tickets: $3 for a day pass and $5 for a weekend pass. Tickets can be purchased online at: greekfesttn.com/purchase-tickets
Go for: Greek food, cooking shows, live music, drinks, pastries and more!
