247Sports put out a list of second year players that are poised to shine in 2024 and a Tennessee Vols redshirt freshman made their list.

Tight end Ethan Davis, a four-star recruit in the 2023 recruiting class, was pointed out by 247Sports as a player that could have a breakout season this fall.

Davis, who is from Georgia, is an extremely athletic player who has elite receiving skills.

From 247Sports : This is a guy that has dealt with some injuries. Was banged up all as a freshman. During spring practices, injured his collarbone, so he was limited. We didn't get to see him in the spring game. But Tennessee, there's a void there. … I think it's going to be a rotation. All three of those guys are going to be on the field. But just kind of reading between the tea leaves, it seems like the coaches have their fingers crossed that Ethan Davis is going to be that dude, he's going to be the x-factor for the offense, he's going to be a guy that can leak out from the line of scrimmage and he can turn a five-yard gain into a 15-yard gain.

Davis saw limited action last season, catching just two passes for 33 yards as he took a redshirt season while playing behind Jacob Warren and McCallan Castles.

With Warren and Castles off to the NFL, Davis will team with Notre Dame transfer Holden Staes and Alabama transfer Miles Kitselman to form one of the most talented tight end rooms in the nation.

Davis has already shown that he has chemistry with Vols starting quarterback Nico Iamaleava so there have certainly been signs that the young tight end could be in for a huge season.
