Road work planned for this weekend in East Tennessee: What to know

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — From street cleaning in Knoxville to several ongoing construction projects, there are several things East Tennessee drivers need to be aware of this weekend.

On July 27-28 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day, the City of Knoxville will be cleaning streets in the Fort Sanders neighborhood. Click here to see what streets are being cleaned and when cars need to be moved to avoid being towed.

TDOT released its weekly construction report for July 26 through July 31 to share any ongoing or upcoming construction projects across the 24 East Tennessee counties.

In addition, the connection between Alcoa Highway and West Topside Road will be closed for another week after work began on Monday, July 22, to give the contractor a safe working space to build the proposed pedestrian tunnel beneath West Topside Road. To learn more, click here.

The City of Sevierville is nearing completion of a “significant road project” on Old Knoxville Highway . From July 29 through August 2, the city will be completing any remaining ditch, storm drain, and full-depth repair work as necessary. There will be single-lane closures from 7:00 a.m.- 4 p.m. Also in Sevier County, portions of Reagan Drive in Gatlinburg are closed as the city begins “an intensive project” to rehabilitate sewer lines under the road.
